Functional principle

Sealing air

Sealing air is a continuous stream of air which flows from inside a product to the outside via all openings. Sealing air is fed into the product via a separate supply port.

Its purpose is to prevent the ingress of particles or fluids into the product. The usual pressure range for sealing air is 0.2 to 0.5 bar. Higher pressure levels could cause impermissible stress on the panel elements and result in the removal of lubricants or similar due to excessive flow rates. It’s important to ensure that an appropriate volume of air flows through the entire area to be protected. This may, under certain circumstances, require more than one supply port.
